From skipping stones on the Mississippi to kayaking, you’ll find your own style of adventure in Hannibal.
Hannibal has more parks per person than most cities in America. These beautiful parks are linked by a system of trails that are wonderful for walking or biking. Hannibal Regional Hospital has also built a nice walking trail that runs through their beautiful campus. Historic Riverview Park has some tough hiking trails if you’re up for a real challenge. You’ll find tennis courts and disc Frisbee courses as well as a skateboard park.
If you love water, visit our new water park open during the summer months, or launch your boat for a river cruise. South of town you’ll find an extreme rock crawling course where you can compete with other four-wheeled enthusiasts. Recently a new bike shop opened up in the Huck Finn Shopping Center. Visit Cool Bikes for the latest in skateboards and biking equipment.
Hannibal’s campgrounds are a great place to stay. There are three campgrounds: The Mark Twain Cave Campground, Injun Joe Campground and Bay View Campers Park. Don’t forget to bring your pets! Hannibal is pet friendly with a new dog park and three pet boutiques with grooming facilities and even pet sitting.
If you love sports, you’ll love Fiddlesticks – Hannibal’s own sports bar with televisions around the room focusing on the sports you love to watch. Many of the hotels in town have swimming pools and work out rooms. Call ahead for the amenities that best fit your needs.

HANNIBAL CANNIBAL
For those of you that want to participate more than watch, the Hannibal Cannibal takes place every 4th of July around the Tom Sawyer Day Celebration. They call it the “Cannibal” because it will eat you up. This tough 5K or 10K run/walk includes the steep climb to Lovers Leap. There are divisions for all age groups. Visit Hannibal Regional Hospital's website for more details.

Visit Sawyer's Creek and ride in the bumper boats or visit the haunted house. There are batting cages south of town at Injun Joe Campgrounds too. |

MARK TWAIN CAVE
Finally, you can’t leave Hannibal without visiting the famous Mark Twain Cave. At 50 degrees year round, remember to bring a jacket. For more of an adventure, experience Cameron Cave by lantern. This entire region is known for its karst topography and is full of caves. After you’re done exploring, stop by Java Jive – the first coffee shop west of the Mississippi for a hot or cold drink.
